iTEQ (DDi iTEQ) is a range of diesel engines from Isuzu engines. The first engine of this series was introduced in 2004. They are fitted in both the D-Max pickups and the MU-7 and MU-X body-on-frame SUVs. The vehicles are equipped with a common rail injection system.
Features of iTEQ engines
iTEQ engines consist of 4-cylinder in-line engines with 16 valves. All have a single or twin turbo with intercooler. Some versions have a variable geometry turbocharger. The engine block is made of cast iron and the cylinder head is made of a special aluminum alloy patented by Isuzu Motors. The valve control unit usually uses a steel chain. The injectors' pumping element is coated with ebonite to give the unit longer life even when the fuel quality is poor and distinguishes Isuzu engine injectors.
